Come in Awakening Guide: Unlock the True Ending

Understanding the Awakening Mechanic in Come in

In Come in, the Awakening system is the core narrative driver that determines which ending you will experience. Unlike traditional horror games, Awakening is not a simple health bar or sanity meter—it is a hidden progression tied to your choices, observations, and interactions within the cabin.

When you first arrive at the forest cabin after months of online chatting, everything seems idyllic. However, as you explore, you will notice subtle anomalies: a clock that ticks backward, a photograph that changes when you look away, or a whisper that only you can hear. These are Awakening triggers. Each trigger you discover and correctly interpret increases your Awakening level.

To fully understand this system, we recommend reading our Come in gameplay overview and story campaign guide first.

How to Start the Awakening Path

The Awakening path begins the moment you step through the front door. Do not ignore the small details. Your first task is to inspect the entryway table where your host has left a handwritten note. The note contains a code—remember it. Then, examine the wall clock. If the time on the clock matches the time written in the note, you have triggered your first Awakening event.

Next, move to the living room. Look at the bookshelf on the left wall. There is a single book titled The Guest. Open it. Inside, you will find a pressed flower and a handwritten date. This date is critical. If you later find a photograph with the same date, combine them in your inventory to unlock a hidden memory sequence.

Key Awakening Triggers in the Cabin

There are seven major Awakening triggers hidden throughout the cabin. Missing even one can lock you out of the true ending. Here is where to find them:

  1. The Kitchen Knife: In the kitchen drawer, a knife with a red handle. Do not take it—just observe it. The reflection in the blade shows a face that is not yours.
  2. The Bedroom Mirror: At 3:00 AM in-game time, the mirror will fog up. Write your name on the fog. If you see a different name, you have triggered Awakening.
  3. The Basement Door: It is locked. You need the key from the study desk drawer. Inside the basement, you will find a wall of photographs. Find the one with the same date from the book.
  4. The Attic Ladder: Pull it down and climb up. There is a single candle and a diary. Read the last page.
  5. The Garden Shed: Go outside at dusk. The shed door will be slightly open. Inside, a music box plays a lullaby. Stop it by turning the key counterclockwise.
  6. The Phone Call: At 11:11 PM, the landline rings. Answer it. The voice on the other end will give you a riddle. Solve it correctly.
  7. The Final Door: After completing all six triggers, a new door appears in the hallway. Enter it.

Surviving the Awakening Sequence

Once you trigger the final door, the game enters the Awakening Sequence. Your host will no longer be friendly. She will begin to chase you through the cabin. This is not a combat sequence—you must hide and outsmart her.

Use the closet in the master bedroom and the curtains in the living room as hiding spots. Do not stay in one spot for more than 30 seconds. She will search methodically. Listen for her footsteps: fast means she is running toward you; slow means she is checking rooms.

If she catches you, the Awakening resets, and you must replay the triggers. To avoid frustration, save before entering the final door.

If you are struggling with the boss-like chase, refer to our Come in boss raid guide and best team compositions—though this is a single-player game, the strategies for pattern recognition apply.

Unlocking the True Ending

The true ending, also called the Awakened Ending, requires you to complete the Awakening Sequence without being caught and to have found all seven triggers. After escaping the cabin, you will find yourself in a clearing. A figure will approach you—it is the real version of your host. She will thank you for seeing the truth.

You will then have a choice: forgive her or leave. Choose forgive to unlock the final cutscene where the cabin burns, and you walk out of the forest together. This ending reveals the full backstory of the online relationship and the tragedy that trapped her in the cabin.

Additional Tips for a Smooth Awakening

  • Save often: The game has multiple autosave points, but manual saves are recommended before major triggers.
  • Use headphones: Audio cues are critical for the Awakening Sequence. The direction of whispers and footsteps matters.
  • Read everything: Notes, diaries, and even graffiti on walls contain clues. Ignoring them will lock you out of the true ending.
  • Check your inventory: Combine items that share dates, symbols, or colors. This is how you unlock hidden memories.
