What Does Reroll Mean in Idlemoor?

Idlemoor does not have a traditional gacha system or class selection at character creation. Instead, rerolling in Idlemoor refers to re-rolling the affixes and stat rolls on your gear items. Since every piece of equipment in the game is completely unique with randomized stats, affixes, tiers, and set bonuses, understanding how and when to reroll is essential to building a powerful Wanderer.

Unlike many idle games where you simply equip the highest number, Idlemoor rewards you for making strategic choices about which gear to keep, which to reroll, and which to sell on the marketplace.

Understanding Idlemoor's Gear System

Before you start rerolling, you need to understand how gear works in Idlemoor. Every item that drops has several layers of randomization:

Tier determines the base power range of an item. Higher tier gear rolls with stronger base stats and can support better affixes. You will find higher tier gear as you progress through tougher combat areas and events.

Affixes are the bonus modifiers on your gear. These can include offensive stats like damage and crit chance, defensive stats like armor and health regen, or utility stats like resource gain and experience bonuses. Each item can have between one and three affixes depending on its quality.

Set bonuses activate when you equip multiple pieces from the same set. Mixing set pieces with well-rolled affixes is often stronger than chasing a full set with poor stat rolls.

Rarity affects how many affix slots an item has. Common items have no affixes, uncommon have one, rare have two, and epic or legendary items can have three affixes along with higher base stat ranges.

How to Reroll Gear Affixes

The reroll system in Idlemoor lets you re-randomize one affix on a piece of gear. You do this at the Blacksmith NPC located in the town hub. The process costs in-game gold and may require specific materials that drop from combat and events.

To reroll a piece of gear:

1. Open the Blacksmith interface in town.
2. Select the gear piece you want to reroll.
3. Choose which affix slot to target (if the item has multiple affixes).
4. Pay the gold and material cost to re-roll the affix.
5. The affix will be replaced with a new random affix from the available pool for that gear slot.

When to Reroll Your Gear

Not every piece of gear is worth rerolling. Here is a decision framework to use:

Do reroll when you have a high-tier item with a strong base stat roll but one dead affix. For example, a Rare chest piece with excellent defense stats but a useless resource gain affix - rerolling the bad affix can turn it into a top-tier piece.

Do reroll when you are farming a specific set bonus and the piece has the right set tag but poor affixes. The set bonus plus fixed base stats make these items worth investing in.

Do not reroll low-tier gear. If the item's tier is below your current progression level, you will replace it soon anyway. Save resources for gear that will stay relevant for at least several days of play.

Do not reroll gear with only one affix slot (Common quality). The cost-to-benefit ratio is poor - you are better off farming for a better base item.

Training and Build Optimization

Rerolling gear only matters if you know what stats to target for your build. Idlemoor's training system lets you customize your character's development, which in turn determines which gear affixes are most valuable.

If you are building a combat-focused Wanderer, prioritize affixes like damage, crit chance, and attack speed. Gear with defensive affixes like armor and health regen is less valuable for you.

If you are building a resource-gathering Wanderer, focus on affixes that boost resource yield, experience gain, and stamina efficiency. Combat stats are secondary.

If you are building a PvP-focused Wanderer, you need a balance of burst damage and survivability. Crit damage, penetration, and health regen are all valuable, and rerolling to find the right mix on your PvP gear is worth the investment.

The important thing is to pick a direction and stick with it. A character with optimized gear for one role will perform better than one with scattered stats from trying to do everything.

Rerolling Tips for New Players

If you are new to Idlemoor, here are practical tips to avoid wasting resources:

Farm before you reroll. Spend your first few sessions gathering combat streaks and completing Pilgrimage quests. The materials you collect naturally will fund your first reroll attempts.

Stick to one gear slot. Instead of spreading rerolls across all your equipment, focus on rerolling one key piece - typically your weapon or chest armor. These slots provide the most impactful stat increases and are the best return on investment.

Check the community. Join the in-game chat or check community discussions to see which affixes are considered best-in-slot for your preferred playstyle. Game updates can shift the meta, so current information is valuable.

Know when to stop. Getting a good affix (even if not perfect) on a reroll attempt is usually worth keeping. Chasing a perfect triple-affix roll can cost far more than the item is worth.

Common Rerolling Mistakes

Many new Wanderers make these mistakes when starting out with the reroll system:

Rerolling before checking the marketplace. Sometimes a perfectly rolled item is already available on the marketplace for less than it would cost you in materials to create one from scratch.

Ignoring set bonuses in favor of raw stats. A set bonus that boosts your combat streaks by 20% is often stronger than a single piece with marginally higher damage stats.

Rerolling every drop. Most gear you find will be replaced. Be selective. Reroll only when you identify a piece that will stay in your loadout for an extended period.

Spending all gold on rerolls. Always keep a reserve of gold for marketplace purchases, Pilgrimage costs, and community event participation. A bankrupt Wanderer progresses much slower than one with a healthy economy.
