Game Won't Launch or Crashes on Startup

If BUNNYBastion crashes immediately after you click play or fails to launch at all, the issue is often related to system compatibility or corrupted game files. Follow these steps in order:

1. Verify game files through your Steam library. Right-click BUNNYBastion, go to Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. This will replace any missing or corrupted data.
2. Update your graphics drivers. Visit your GPU manufacturer’s website (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel) and download the latest drivers. Outdated drivers are a common cause of startup crashes.
3. Disable overlays. Steam, Discord, and GeForce Experience overlays can conflict with BUNNYBastion. Disable them temporarily to see if the game launches.
4. Run as administrator. Right-click the game executable and select “Run as administrator” to ensure it has full system permissions.

If the problem persists, try a clean boot to eliminate software conflicts. Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and select “Selective startup” with no non-Microsoft services enabled.

Low FPS and Performance Issues

BUNNYBastion is a fast-paced Roguelite tower defense game, so maintaining a stable frame rate is crucial for smooth gameplay. If you experience stuttering or low FPS, start by adjusting in-game settings.

Recommended performance fixes:

• Lower graphics settings. Reduce shadow quality, anti-aliasing, and post-processing effects. Turn off V-Sync if you have a G-Sync or FreeSync monitor.
• Set power plan to High Performance. Go to Control Panel > Power Options and select “High Performance” to prevent CPU throttling.
• Check for overheating. Use software like MSI Afterburner to monitor your CPU and GPU temperatures. If they exceed 85°C, clean your fans and improve case airflow.
• Disable fullscreen optimizations. Right-click the game executable, go to Properties > Compatibility, and check “Disable fullscreen optimizations.”

Black Screen on Launch

A black screen at startup is a frequent issue that usually indicates a resolution or display mode conflict. BUNNYBastion may default to a refresh rate or resolution your monitor does not support.

1. Force windowed mode

   Navigate to the game’s configuration file (usually located in Documents/My Games/BUNNYBastion/config.ini). Find the line Fullscreen=true and change it to Fullscreen=false. Save the file and launch the game.

2. Adjust resolution

   In the same config file, set ResolutionX and ResolutionY to your monitor’s native resolution, e.g., 1920 and 1080. If you are unsure of your native resolution, right-click your desktop and check Display Settings.

3. Update DirectX and Visual C++

   BUNNYBastion relies on DirectX 11 and Visual C++ redistributables. Download the latest versions from Microsoft’s official website and install them.

If the black screen persists, try launching the game with the -windowed launch option. In Steam, right-click BUNNYBastion > Properties > Launch Options, and type -windowed.

Audio Problems: No Sound or Crackling

Audio issues can ruin the immersion of BUNNYBastion’s intense battles. If you encounter no sound, crackling, or desynced audio, check your audio device settings first.

• Set correct playback device. Right-click the speaker icon in your taskbar, select “Open Sound settings,” and ensure your headset or speakers are set as the default device.
• Disable audio enhancements. In the same Sound settings menu, go to Device Properties > Additional device properties > Enhancements tab, and check “Disable all enhancements.”
• Update audio drivers. Visit your motherboard or sound card manufacturer’s website for the latest drivers. Realtek and NVIDIA HD Audio drivers are commonly required.
• Check in-game audio settings. Ensure that master volume is not set to zero and that the correct output device is selected within BUNNYBastion’s audio options.

Save File Corruption and Progress Loss

Losing your progress in a Roguelite game is frustrating. BUNNYBastion saves automatically, but corruption can occur due to unexpected crashes or power outages. To prevent data loss, regularly back up your save files.

Save files are typically located in: %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\BUNNYBastion\SaveData

BUNNYBastion is a single-player game, so you won’t encounter multiplayer connection problems. However, some features like leaderboards or cloud saves require an internet connection. If you see a “No internet connection” error, ensure your firewall or antivirus is not blocking the game.

• Add BUNNYBastion to your firewall exceptions. Go to Windows Security > Firewall & network protection > Allow an app through firewall, and add the game executable.
• Check Steam connection. Sometimes, Steam’s servers are down. Visit the Steam status page to verify.
• Use a wired connection. Wi-Fi interference can cause intermittent connectivity. A wired Ethernet connection is more stable.
