Lucky's Funhouse is a single-player horror adventure where your choices dictate your fate. Unlike a linear experience, the game features a complex web of unlockable areas, abilities, and narrative branches. The key to survival—and to seeing every ending—lies in understanding the correct unlock order.

Your progression is gated by three main factors: Keys, Courage, and Knowledge. You'll find specific items that unlock new wings of the Funhouse, your character's sanity and resolve (Courage) which allows you to approach certain horrors, and journal entries (Knowledge) that reveal the monster's weaknesses. The optimal unlock order focuses on balancing these resources to avoid dead ends and soft-locks.

Phase 1: The Entrance and the First Key

Your journey begins in the "Entry Hall." Your immediate goal is to find the Rusty Key. This key is not hidden; it's in plain sight on the reception desk, but a jump scare will trigger if you grab it without first examining the Polaroid photo next to it. Examining the photo gives you a crucial clue about the door's lock mechanism.

Once you have the Rusty Key, you will unlock the door to the "West Corridor." Do not proceed into the "East Corridor" yet; it is a dead end that requires a specific tool you do not yet possess. The West Corridor leads to the first safe room and the game's first major puzzle.

1. Examine the Polaroid

   Before touching the Rusty Key, interact with the Polaroid on the desk. This will add a note to your journal, preventing an instant trap.

2. Retrieve the Rusty Key

   Grab the key from the desk. A brief cutscene will play. You are now safe to proceed.

3. Unlock the West Corridor

   Use the Rusty Key on the door marked with a faded "W". This door is immediately to your left as you face the main exit.

Phase 2: The Workshop and the Flashlight Upgrade

The West Corridor leads to the "Workshop." This is a pivotal location. Inside, you will find a workbench and a locked cabinet. The cabinet contains the Reinforced Bulb, a vital upgrade for your starting flashlight.

To open the cabinet, you need a Screwdriver, which is located in the "Janitor's Closet." The Janitor's Closet is locked with a simple 3-digit code. The code is found on a whiteboard in the Workshop itself, partially erased. Look for the numbers "4", "7", and "2" written in a specific order.

After upgrading your flashlight, you can now safely explore the "East Corridor" without being instantly caught by the roaming entity, as the upgraded light can briefly stun it. This allows you to reach the "Library," where you will find the Silver Key needed for the next major area.

Phase 3: The Asylum Wing and Multiple Endings

With the Silver Key, you unlock the "Asylum Wing." This is the game's main hub for narrative choices. Here, you will encounter the game's central monster, "Lucky," for the first time in a scripted chase sequence. Your goal here is not to fight, but to find three Memory Fragments.

The order in which you collect these fragments determines which ending you are on the path to. This is the core of the unlock order strategy.

Phase 4: The Final Chamber and Endgame

After collecting your chosen Memory Fragment(s), the path to the "Final Chamber" unlocks. This area is a gauntlet of puzzles and chase sequences. You will need to have unlocked the following before entering:

• The Safe Room (Workshop): Your last checkpoint.
• The Vial of Courage (Library): Grants temporary immunity to fear effects.
• The Final Key (Asylum Director's Office): Located behind a puzzle that requires the Screwdriver and the Map Fragment.

Once inside the Final Chamber, you will face Lucky. The combat is not about damage; it's about using your unlocked knowledge and items to banish her. The specific ending you get depends on the fragment you chose to empower your final action.

Optimization Tips for Speedrunners

If you are looking to complete the game quickly, the optimal unlock order changes slightly. The goal is to minimize backtracking.

1. Skip the Polaroid: The jump scare from the Rusty Key is faster than examining the photo. Just grab the key and run. You will lose a small amount of Courage, but it saves 15 seconds.
2. Screwdriver First: Instead of going to the Workshop first, go directly to the Janitor's Closet. The code is always 4-7-2. Grab the Screwdriver, then go to the Workshop.
3. Direct to Center Path: For the fastest ending ("Escape"), go directly for the Fragment of Sorrow. This requires the least amount of side exploration.
4. No Upgrades: Do not upgrade your flashlight. The stun is unnecessary if you know the pathing of the entity in the East Corridor.
