Fog-Walkers – The Common Threat
Fog-walkers are the most frequent enemy type you will encounter across the fog-shrouded world of Crownseeker. They emerge from the mist during both day and night cycles, drawn by movement and noise. These creatures are slow but persistent, and they often travel in packs of three to five. Individually, a fog-walker deals moderate damage, but a group can quickly overwhelm an unprepared hunter.
Behavior: Fog-walkers patrol random paths and will chase you once they detect your presence. They do not retreat and will follow you across zone boundaries. Their attacks are telegraphed by a low growl, giving you a brief window to dodge or block.
Weaknesses: Fire-based gear and bright light sources cause fog-walkers to stagger, breaking their attack pattern. Using a torch or a flare item can buy you precious seconds to escape or counterattack.

Nightcrawlers – Stealthy Nocturnal Predators
Nightcrawlers only appear after sunset, making them a unique nocturnal threat. They are faster than fog-walkers and can phase through thin walls and obstacles. Their dark, sinewy bodies blend into the night, so you must rely on sound and peripheral vision to spot them. A Nightcrawler’s lunge attack deals heavy damage and applies a slow debuff.
Behavior: Nightcrawlers stalk you from a distance, circling before striking. They are attracted to light sources, so camping near a campfire or carrying a lantern will draw them closer. However, bright flashlights can temporarily blind them, giving you a chance to reposition.
Tips: Always carry a light-based consumable if you plan to explore at night. Pairing a lantern with a fast melee weapon is an effective strategy. For more on gear, check our Gear Guide.
Relic Guardians – Elite Zone Bosses
Relic Guardians are powerful, stationary enemies that guard the relics you need to collect. Each Guardian is tied to a specific relic location and has a unique attack pattern. They do not chase you outside their designated zone, but within it, they are relentless. Guardians have high health pools and resist most status effects.
Behavior: Guardians use a mix of ranged and melee attacks. They will summon minor fog-walkers to assist them if the fight lasts too long. Their most dangerous move is a ground slam that creates a shockwave, requiring precise timing to jump over.
Weaknesses: Guardians are vulnerable to elemental damage that matches the relic they guard. For example, a fire relic Guardian takes extra damage from ice-based weapons. Study the relic color before engaging to prepare the right loadout.

The Crown’s Chosen – Endgame Hunters
Once you collect all relics and the Crown appears, The Crown’s Chosen spawn. These are humanoid, intelligent enemies that actively hunt you across the entire map. They have the same gear and abilities as the player, making them the most dangerous enemy type. There are up to three Chosen in a single run, and they respawn after being defeated.
Behavior: The Chosen use tactical maneuvers, such as flanking, trapping, and healing. They can open doors and use items, so you cannot rely on barriers to escape. They communicate with each other, coordinating attacks to corner you.
Strategy: Avoid direct confrontation until you have high-tier gear and plenty of healing items. Use the environment to separate them, then pick them off one by one. Stealth builds are particularly effective against the Chosen.

Environmental Threats – Traps and Hazards
Not all threats in Crownseeker have legs. The fog itself is a constant danger, reducing visibility and slowly draining your hunger meter. Certain zones contain environmental traps like spike pits, collapsing floors, and toxic gas vents. These hazards are often placed near relic locations to test your awareness.
Behavior: Traps are static but may reset after a short cooldown. Toxic gas vents activate when you step on pressure plates, releasing a cloud that deals damage over time. Collapsing floors give a visual cue — cracked tiles — before they break.
How to survive: Move slowly in unfamiliar areas and listen for audio cues like hissing gas or creaking floors. Equip gear that reduces environmental damage, such as the Gas Mask or Sturdy Boots. For a full list of protective items, see our Crafting Guide.
