Crownseeker Tier List: Ranking the Best Relic Hunters

In Crownseeker, your choice of character determines how you survive the fog-shrouded world. Each hunter brings unique strengths to relic hunting, combat, and resource management. This tier list ranks every character based on their overall performance in solo play, from S-tier (must-pick) to D-tier (situational). We update this list regularly to reflect the latest balance changes.

S-Tier: The Best of the Best

S-tier characters excel in multiple areas — they deal high damage, survive easily, and make relic hunting efficient. If you want to win consistently, pick one of these hunters.

• The Ember Knight — A balanced powerhouse with strong melee attacks and a fire aura that damages nearby enemies. His passive reduces hunger drain by 20%, making him ideal for long expeditions.
• The Shadow Stalker — Unmatched mobility and stealth. She can bypass dangerous zones and ambush creatures for critical hits. Her ability to reveal relic locations on the map is invaluable.
• The Frost Weaver — Excellent crowd control and area denial. She freezes enemies in place, giving you time to escape or set up combos. Her ultimate can clear entire rooms of weaker foes.

A-Tier: Strong and Reliable

A-tier characters are excellent choices that can win games, but they require slightly more careful play or specific relic synergies.

• The Wild Druid — Summons animal allies to tank damage and scout ahead. His healing abilities keep you alive during night hunts, but his damage output is lower than S-tier options.
• The Arcane Scholar — High burst damage with ranged spells. He struggles in close combat, so you must maintain distance. Excellent for players who prefer a tactical approach.
• The Iron Sentinel — A defensive tank with high health and a shield. He can absorb massive damage but moves slowly. Best paired with speed-boosting relics.

B-Tier: Situational Picks

B-tier characters are viable but depend heavily on your relic loadout or the map layout. They can perform well in the right hands but are outclassed by higher tiers in most scenarios.

• The Nightshade Rogue — High single-target damage but very fragile. He excels against bosses but is easily overwhelmed by groups. Requires precise dodging.
• The Tide Caller — Water-based abilities that slow enemies and heal over time. Her damage is mediocre, but she provides excellent sustain. Best for players who prioritize survival over speed.
• The Forge Master — Can craft temporary gear and repair equipment mid-run. His utility is great, but his combat stats are below average. Use him if you struggle with weapon durability.

C-Tier: Below Average

C-tier characters have noticeable flaws that make relic hunting harder. They are usable but often feel like a struggle compared to higher-tier picks.

• The Wandering Minstrel — Buffs your character with music but has very weak direct attacks. His passive is useful, but you must rely heavily on gear.
• The Dusk Hunter — Gains power at night but is weak during the day. Since you control when to explore, this can be managed, but it limits your flexibility.
• The Earth Shaman — Defensive abilities that create walls and traps. He controls space well but lacks offensive pressure. Fights take longer, increasing hunger drain.

D-Tier: Avoid If Possible

D-tier characters are outclassed in almost every way. They have severe weaknesses that are hard to overcome, even with optimal relic combinations. Only pick them for a challenge.

• The Lost Soul — Starts with a random debuff that persists for the entire run. The debuff is often crippling (e.g., double hunger drain, halved damage). Not worth the risk.
• The Frail Healer — Can heal others in co-op, but Crownseeker is single-player. Her self-heal is weak, and her damage is the lowest in the game. She offers nothing that other characters don't do better.

Our tier list is based on several factors, tested across multiple playthroughs on the current version of Crownseeker (May 2026). We consider:

• Survivability: How well the character manages hunger, health, and threats.
• Damage Output: Raw damage per second and ability to clear enemies quickly.
• Utility: Unique skills that help with relic hunting, exploration, or resource gathering.
• Consistency: How well the character performs regardless of relic drops or map layout.
