Understanding the Core Loop

Hellbridge Demo is a free-to-play Action RPG where you defend the last bridge to the living world. The progression system is built around a roguelike loop: each run you survive escalating sieges from Hell, draft spells, and unlock new abilities. Death is not the end—it is a step toward permanent power.

Unlike traditional RPGs, your character resets each run. What carries over are Cursed Gate unlocks, spell pool upgrades, and bridge enhancements. This guide explains how to maximize your growth between runs.

Permanent Upgrades: The Cursed Gates

The Cursed Gates are the primary permanent progression system. After your first death, you will find them at the bridge entrance. Each gate requires Soul Shards to unlock, which are earned by completing runs and defeating elite enemies.

Prioritize the Gate of Might first if you are struggling with damage output. The Gate of Resilience is a safer choice for beginners.

Spell Drafting and Synergies

During each run, you draft spells from a rotating pool. The progression system ensures you see more spells as you unlock gates. Each spell has a rarity (Common, Uncommon, Rare) and an element (Fire, Ice, Shadow).

How Drafting Works

After every three waves, you choose one of three spells. The available spells depend on your unlocked pool. You can also find spell fusion altars that combine two spells into a more powerful version.

1. Build a core element

   Focus on one or two elements to trigger synergy bonuses. For example, Fire spells cause burn, and Ice spells slow enemies.

2. Upgrade existing spells

   Duplicate spells combine to increase their level. A level 2 Fireball deals 50% more damage.

Bridge Enhancements

The bridge itself can be upgraded between runs. These enhancements affect the battlefield, not your character.

Run Rewards and Soul Shards

Every run, regardless of how far you progress, rewards Soul Shards. The deeper you go, the more you earn. Use these shards to unlock gates and bridge upgrades.

• Defeat the first mini-boss for an extra 50 shards
• Complete all daily challenges for bonus shards

If you die before wave 5, you still earn a small amount of shards. Never abandon a run early—every wave counts.
