Save File Location

Finding your Hellbridge Demo save file is straightforward. The game stores all progression data locally on your PC. By default, the save file is located in the following directory:

To access this folder quickly, press Windows Key + R, paste the path above, and hit Enter. You will see a file named save_data.dat or a folder containing your save data. This file holds all your progress, including unlocked spells, completed runs, and character upgrades.

Hellbridge Demo is a free-to-play single-player Action RPG. Your save file is critical for preserving your roguelike progression across multiple runs. Make regular backups to avoid losing hours of gameplay.

Backing Up Your Save File

Regular backups prevent data loss due to corruption, accidental deletion, or system issues. Follow these steps to create a manual backup of your Hellbridge Demo save file.

  1. Locate the save folder

    Navigate to %LOCALAPPDATA%\DexGamesStudio\HellbridgeDemo\ using the Run dialog or File Explorer.

  2. Copy the save file

    Right-click the save_data.dat file and select Copy. Alternatively, copy the entire folder if multiple files exist.

  3. Choose a backup location

    Paste the file into a safe location such as your Documents folder, an external drive, or cloud storage like Google Drive or OneDrive.

  4. Rename for clarity

    Add the date to the filename, for example save_data_backup_2026-06-14.dat, to track different versions.

Repeat this process after significant play sessions or before major updates to ensure you always have a recent backup.

Cloud Save Support

Hellbridge Demo does not currently support Steam Cloud saving. All progress is stored locally on your machine. This means if you uninstall the game or switch to a different PC, your save file will not transfer automatically.

Since cloud sync is unavailable, you must manually transfer your save file when switching computers. Failure to do so will result in a complete loss of progress. Always keep a backup copy accessible via a USB drive or cloud storage service.

To transfer your save to another PC, copy the save_data.dat file from the original location and paste it into the same directory on the new computer before launching Hellbridge Demo.

Restoring a Save File

If you lose your progress due to corruption or accidental deletion, follow these steps to restore from a backup.

  1. Close Hellbridge Demo

    Ensure the game is not running to avoid file conflicts during restoration.

  2. Navigate to the save folder

    Open %LOCALAPPDATA%\DexGamesStudio\HellbridgeDemo\ again.

  3. Replace the current save

    Delete the existing save_data.dat file (if present) and paste your backup copy into the folder.

  4. Launch the game

    Start Hellbridge Demo and verify that your progress has been restored. Check your unlocked spells, run history, and character upgrades.

If the game does not recognize the save, ensure the backup file is named exactly save_data.dat and placed in the correct directory.
