Robot Hospice Mechanics Guide: Core Systems Explained
Updated 2026-06-14

Understanding the Core Loop
Robot Hospice revolves around a gentle, emotional cycle: you arrive at the hospice each day, check on your assigned robots, tend to their needs, and help them process their memories. The game has no combat or timers; the only pressure is emotional. Your goal is to make each robot's final days as peaceful as possible.
The game is entirely free and single-player. There are no microtransactions or time-limited events. Every robot's story is unique and can be experienced at your own pace.
The core loop consists of four phases: Morning Rounds, Needs Assessment, Memory Sessions, and Evening Farewells. Each phase introduces new mechanics as you progress.
Morning Rounds and Robot Status
Each day begins with a morning round. You visit each robot in their room and check their status. The status screen shows three key bars: Comfort, Cleanliness, and Emotional Stability. These bars decay slowly over time and must be maintained.
Comfort Bar
Affected by room temperature, bedding quality, and nearby objects. Keep it above 60% to avoid distress.
Cleanliness Bar
Robots can gather dust or spill oil. Use the cleaning tools in your inventory to wipe them down.
Emotional Stability
The most important bar. It drops when a robot recalls painful memories or when they feel lonely. Talking and listening raise it.
You can also inspect each robot's memory core during morning rounds. This reveals their current emotional state and any pending memory fragments they want to share.
Needs Assessment and Resource Management
After morning rounds, you enter the Needs Assessment phase. Here, you decide which robot to prioritize. The game gives you a limited number of action points each day — typically five. Each action (cleaning, talking, repairing, or memory retrieval) costs one point.
Action points reset each day. Use them wisely. If a robot's Emotional Stability is critically low, prioritize them over others. For more early-game strategies, check our Beginner Tips guide.
You can craft basic items like oil cloths and comfort toys using materials found around the hospice. These items restore multiple bars at once, saving action points. Resource management becomes more important as you unlock new robots later in the game.
Memory Recovery System
The most unique mechanic in Robot Hospice is the Memory Recovery System. Each robot has a fragmented memory core containing three to five memories. To recover a memory, you must complete a short mini-game: a 2D puzzle where you connect emotional nodes in the correct order.
Initiate a Memory Session
Select a robot and choose "Memory Recovery." This costs one action point. A visual interface appears showing a web of nodes.
Identify Emotional Nodes
Each node has a color and an emotion label (Joy, Sorrow, Gratitude, Regret). You must connect nodes in a sequence that matches the robot's current emotional state.
Complete the Connection
Draw a line between nodes without crossing paths. Successfully connecting all nodes unlocks the memory fragment and a story cutscene.
Each recovered memory permanently raises the robot's Emotional Stability cap, allowing them to feel more peace. It also unlocks new dialogue options and sometimes reveals hidden objects in their room.
Farewell Rituals and Endings
When a robot's Emotional Stability reaches 100% and all memories are recovered, you can initiate the Farewell Ritual. This is a multi-step sequence unique to each robot. It involves placing specific items in their room, saying a final dialogue, and watching a short animated scene.
The Farewell Ritual is irreversible. Once started, you cannot cancel it. Make sure you have recovered all memories and said everything you want to say. Check our Endings Guide for details on all possible outcomes.
The game tracks which robots you have completed. After the final robot's farewell, the credits roll. However, you can continue playing in a "Post-Credits" mode where you explore the hospice and find hidden lore items. There are multiple endings depending on how many robots you fully completed.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to complete all robot stories? A full playthrough takes approximately 4 to 6 hours. If you want to see all endings and hidden content, expect 8 to 10 hours.
Can I replay the game with different choices? Yes. The game supports multiple save slots. You can start a new game and make different decisions to see alternate dialogue and endings.
Is there a penalty for missing a robot's needs? No permanent penalty. If a robot's Comfort or Cleanliness drops too low, they become distressed and their Emotional Stability decreases faster. However, you can always recover the next day.
Are there any secrets or hidden mechanics? Yes. Some robots have secret memories that only appear if you interact with certain objects in their room first. Explore thoroughly. Our Secrets Guide has full details.
