Save File Location

The save file for Robot Hospice is stored locally on your computer. Since the game is a single-player experience with no cloud saving, knowing the exact location is essential for backing up your progress or transferring it to another machine.

Mac Save Path

The file is also named save.dat. If you cannot see the Library folder, press Cmd + Shift + . in Finder to reveal hidden folders.

How to Backup Your Save

Backing up your save file is a straightforward process that protects your progress from accidental deletion or system issues.

1. Locate the save folder

   Navigate to the correct path for your operating system as described above.

2. Copy the save.dat file

   Right-click on save.dat and select "Copy" (or use Ctrl+C on Windows, Cmd+C on Mac).

3. Paste to a safe location

   Create a folder on your desktop, in your Documents, or on an external drive. Paste the file there. Rename it to something like save_backup_2026.dat for easy identification.

You can create multiple backups at different points in your playthrough. This is especially useful if you want to revisit specific story moments without replaying the entire game.

Restoring a Save File

To restore a previously backed-up save, simply reverse the backup process.

1. Close the game

   Ensure Robot Hospice is not running.

2. Replace the save file

   Copy your backup save.dat file. Navigate to the original save folder and paste it, choosing to replace the existing file.

3. Launch the game

   Start Robot Hospice. Your progress should now reflect the state of the backup you restored.
